about

This is the second of a two album set that spans a decade of electroacoustic composition by Robin Parmar. This anthology collects tracks from compilations and collaborative projects, unreleased experiments, and excerpts from live performances. Tracks have been retrieved from internet streams and harvested from hard drive valleys.

"This collection of sixteen tracks comprise a sonic manifesto in platial thinking. Each composition has been constructed from sounds encountered in the environment: beach stones, plastic wrap, electromagnetic disturbances, broken pianos, ice machines, radio voices, etc. These materials are employed for their sonic textures; electronic transformations reveal hidden properties and interactions. Such traces define my place, first as a listener in an integral network of patterns and flows, then as a composer wishing to articulate such relationships for listeners."

The liner notes include a description of each track, plus a short essay which outlines the composer's aims and philosophy. All tracks have been specially remastered for this compilation.

STRAYS 1 will be released 21 December 2021.
STRAYS 2 will bookend the New Year on 10 January 2022.

All funds collected from sales will be donated to the organisation Médecins Sans Frontières, who continue their brave humanitarian work in conflict zones. You may wish instead to make a direct contribution to their cause.
